12th Annual "Eid for Everyone" Toy Drive
For those of you who do not know (or need to be reminded), the AMILA Eid Gift Drive is a project whose goal is to provide gifts to the less fortunate children in our community (the San Francisco area) during this joyous Eid al Fitr. Alhamdullilah, this is our twelfth year of this noble endeavor, and we hope to make this year's Eid Gift Drive even more successful with your participation and support. We are in need of your assistance and help. We are asking for donations in order to make this Eid Gift Drive a success. History The Eid Gift Drive was started as a result of the Bosnian conflict. A large Bosnian population emigrated to the Bay Area during 1994. The Eid Gift Drive served two purposes; it was a means of giving Bosnian children back their childhood, and it was a way to welcome the Bosnian families into our community. Alhamdullilah, we were able to give gifts to over 500 children in our first two years. As the need of the Bosnian community subsided we noticed that there were many other local families in need. We have extended our Eid Gift Drive to help these local children. The program has been running since 1994 and has been expanded to provide families with basic necessities. How you can participate The twelfth annual AMILA Eid Gift Drive is under way. AMILA members are responsible for buying & wrapping gifts and delivering them to children all over the Bay Area. All we ask is for your willingness to participate and your generous donations. Every effort is made to ensure that the child/family receiving the gift feels no different than any other children in the community. 100% of your funds will go to the needy, no money is spent on administrative costs.
